On July 6th, 2017, at about 10:01 PM, Dunkirk Police were dispatched to 141 Lake Shore Dr. East in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, a male victim was found lying unresponsive in the yard outside the residence. The victim was transported to Brooks Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead. The investigation led to the arrest of Rebecca Ruiz, age 28, of 141 Lake Shore Dr. E, Dunkirk, NY, on the charge of murder in the second degree. She is being held at the Dunkirk Police lock-up pending arraignment. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The police believe that the shooting was an isolated incident and not a random act. The Dunkirk Police were assisted at the scene by Fredonia PD, NY State Police, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Dept, the County Forensic Team, and the District Attorney’s office. On October 23, 2016, at about 4:30 AM, Dunkirk Police Officers heard one gunshot come from the area of 6th & Columbus Ave while on another disturbance nearby. Officers responded to the area and found through investigation that the subject, Raven Bush, age 37, of 518 Deer St, Dunkirk, NY, allegedly shot one round off from a pistol in front of 613 Columbus Ave which caused another person to be in fear for their life. Bush was taken into custody nearby and the loaded pistol was recovered. Bush additionally was found to have a previous felony conviction prohibiting him from possessing the pistol. Bush was charged with Criminal Possession of a weapon in the Second Degree (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a weapon in the Third Degree (E Felony), and Menacing in the Second Degree (A Misd.). Bush was arraigned by Dunkirk City Court Judge Walter Drag and held without bail.

The Dunkirk Police Department responded to a report of a possible victim with a gunshot wound at 544 S. Roberts Road at approximately 10:25 PM on July 25th, 2016. A 4 year old victim was treated by Dunkirk Fire/Rescue and transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital where he was treated and then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Buffalo with non life threatening injuries.
Following a lengthy investigation into the incident by Officers from the 3-11 Platoon and Detective Division the above subject Angel Lopez-Tirado, age 27, of Dunkirk, NY, was taken into custody late Monday afternoon after a warrant was issued by City Court Judge Kuzdale for the charges of Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Possession Weapon 2nd Degree Class C Felony and Criminal Possession Weapon 3rd Degree Class D Felony. Lopez-Tirado is currently being held in the City of Dunkirk Holding Center pending his arraignment in City Court this morning. The weapon was recovered and is being held in evidence. The Dunkirk Police Department was assisted in the Investigation by the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, County Child Protection Services and the Child Advocacy Program.
