On Sunday May 14th, 2017 at about 12:50 PM, City of Dunkirk Police officers responded to a Domestic Incident at 616 Canary St. While at the residence, Carlos M. Alvarado, age 42, grabbed a female by the back of the neck and shoved her forward. Officers attempted to take Alvarado into custody at that time. Alvarado refused commands given by Officers, approaching them in an aggressive manner and physically resisted arrest. Alvarado struggled violently with officers in an effort to avoid being taken into custody. During the course of Alvarado’s resistance, a Dunkirk Police Officer was injured. The injured officer was transported to Brooks Hospital and was treated for injuries and released. Alvarado was charged with Assault in the Second Degree (PL. 120.05-3 Class D Felony), Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree ( PL. 195.05 Class A Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (PL 205.30 Class A Misdemeanor), Harassment in the Second Degree (PL 240.26-1 violation). Alvarado was arraigned by Judge Walter Drag and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $50,000 cash bail. Dunkirk Police were assisted by The Fredonia Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department during the course of this incident.
