Drug Sales and Gun Arrests

On October 6, 2017 at 6:41 A.M. the City of Dunkirk Police SRT team and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 632 Deer St. (upper apartment) in the City of Dunkirk. The search warrant had been issued by Dunkirk City
Court Judge Drag based on an investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force of the sales of crack cocaine from this address. The entry into the residence was made without incident and once inside officers located Ontario R. Eldridge, age 31, and Katelyn M. Smith, age 27, both of 632 Deer St, Upper Apt, Dunkirk. At the time of the entry the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force had an arrest warrant for Ontario Eldridge charging one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree. This warrant had also been issued by Judge Drag. The arrest warrant stems from a months long investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and alleges the sale of crack cocaine from this location in the City of Dunkirk by Eldridge.

Once inside of the residence the search revealed a marijuana growing operation, packaging materials associated with the sale and distribution of crack cocaine, and a stolen handgun. As a result of the seizure of these items Eldridge is charged additionally with one count each of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree and Unlawfully Growing of Marijuana. Katelyn Smih was taken into custody and is charged with one count each of Unlawfully Growing Marijuana, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen property in the 4th Degree. Additional charges will be brought against this pair after other items seized are analyzed. Both of these subjects were arraigned before Judge Drag and then remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail pending further action of the court.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Dunkirk Police Department.
