On March 1, 2017, at about 12:08 AM, a Dunkirk Police officer on patrol observed a vehicle fail to signal when pulling into traffic from the curb. The vehicle was stopped for the violation and the operator was found to be Michael J. Borst, age 31, of Brocton, NY. On an approach to the vehicle, an officer observed what appeared to be a handgun lying on the floor next to the driver. It was later determined to be a replica airgun with realistic features. Through investigation, a quantity of Methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia were seized from the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (2 counts), Criminally using drug paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, and Failure to signal from curb. Borst was arraigned by Dunkirk City Court Judge Drag who set bail at $3,000 cash/$6,000 property.
